Securing EU funds in Malta can be a complex process and many businesses do not have the expertise nor the time to reap the best possible results. We propose effective solutions to cater for the needs of all Maltese businesses and applicants. We obtain excellent results in this area by engaging people with a number of multidisciplinary skills ranging from skills in the area of EU law and policy to the engagement of ad-hoc experts in the EU funding related areas. Moreover, we have created a network of EU funding consultants in a number of EU Member States, particularly in Brussels, in order to be deal effectively with trans-national projects involving applicants from different Member States.
EU funds can be an excellent tool for securing the necessary funds to support or even kick-start viable projects. It is unfortunate that some businesses and other entities are not exploring this area properly and are instead still only looking at the traditional ways of obtaining finance (such as loans from banks). The good thing about European Union funds is that unlike a bank loan, you do not have to pay it back when your project is properly managed! The rate of co-financing ranges according to the type of schemes and funds being applied for and the size of the potential beneficiary. It can be as high as 70% in certain cases.

Guide to EU funds: Malta
EU funding is available both at a national (Malta)level and at a European level.
National EU funded programmes are administered by national authorities and are targeted at providing assistance to specific sectors such as agriculture, tourism and industry. Structural funds (European Regional Development Fund [ERDF] and the European Social Fund [ESF] are the largest Community funding instruments benefiting SMEs. The beneficiaries of structural funds normally receive a direct contribution to finance the expenses incurred in implementing their projects.
At a European level, there are a plethora of funds or grants administered by the European Commission which launches EU funding programmes such as the EU’s Culture Programme, FP7 Funding (funds for research) and the Marcopolo programme (transport funding).
